Vlajčić: No subsidies for arsonists

On Thursday, the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, David Vlajčić, stated on Facebook that those who commit arson and celebrate Greater Serbian aggression against Croatia, while receiving agricultural subsidies, will no longer receive them, considering this a decision of common sense.

Minister David Vlajčić pointed out that the Republic of Croatia must not finance those who openly undermine it, people who tear down its constitutional and legal order, insult its reputation, or consciously endanger the health, lives, and property of others.

"You commit arson while receiving agricultural subsidies? Not anymore. You celebrate Greater Serbian aggression against Croatia and announce retaliation for Operation Storm? No subsidies for you," the Minister wrote on Facebook, adding that withholding subsidies from such individuals is a "matter of common sense.

"He also stated that he understands a legal basis must be found that aligns with the Constitution and European regulations, but that he cannot, in good conscience, watch the state and the Ministry he heads pay out large sums of money to individuals who openly work against Croatia and its citizens.

"That is why I initiated a meeting with colleagues from the Ministry of Justice and Public Administration to find a comprehensive solution," Vlajčić wrote, announcing legislative amendments aimed at ensuring that those who do not respect the constitutional and legal order of the Republic of Croatia, insult the homeland's reputation, or endanger the health, lives, and property of others by committing serious criminal offenses will be excluded from the payment of any subsidies and incentives.

The Minister believes that over all these years, the Republic of Croatia has shown it is an orderly state that does not look into family trees, or discriminate on national or any other grounds.

"But it is obvious that there are still those who refuse to accept an independent, sovereign, and democratic Croatia and who pose a security threat. The state should not grant subsidies to such individuals, but rather place them under increased intelligence and police surveillance before they cause great damage and endanger all of us who are loyal to the homeland," Vlajčić wrote.
