Homeland Movement leader Ivan Penava said on Friday that the ultimate goal of his party's Resolution on the Position of Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina is to prevent Croats from being outvoted, adding that the party supports the creation of a separate electoral unit for Croats but not necessarily a separate Croat entity.

"We would like to see a virtual electoral unit in which Croats vote for their representative and cannot be overvoted. Our declaration does not insist on the creation of Herzeg-Bosna," Penava said.

Krunoslav Katičić, a senior HDZ official, said such issues should be resolved by the peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina themselves.

"I believe the discussion on this should take place in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where the three constituent peoples should reach a consensus. But we will reserve judgment until we see the full text of the resolution," Katičić said.

The Homeland Movement and HDZ began discussions on the initiative earlier this week after the Homeland Movement caught its coalition partner off guard with the announcement of the proposal.
