MOST: Croatia must decide for itself on the protection of its borders

The MOST party assessed on Friday that the events in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta demonstrate the failure of European migration policy, stating that Croatia must decide for itself on the protection of its borders and more decisively deter illegal entries into the country.

In a press release, MOST asserted that the events in Ceuta are the result of political and judicial decisions by the EU that encourage illegal migration, reacting to the mass influx of migrants from Africa into that enclave.

In their view, such decisions have enabled migrants who cross the European border to remain in the European Union for a long period during asylum decision-making procedures.

"The scenes from Spanish Ceuta have once again shown the complete collapse of the open-border policy that Brussels institutions and the European left have been advocating for years," MOST stated.

The party criticized the European Pact on Migration and Asylum and the Croatian Migration Management Plan, claiming that both documents encourage migration instead of strengthening border protection.

It states that citizens of Syria, Afghanistan, Turkey, and other countries have illegally crossed the Croatian border in the largest numbers in recent years, and claims that the new Migration Management Plan uses terminology similar to that used by the Možemo party, which in their view shows the closeness of the migration policies of HDZ and Možemo.

MOST also called out the HDZ, SDP, and Možemo parties because they rejected the party's proposal in Croatian Parliament for the Croatian Army to participate alongside the police in protecting the state border to prevent illegal crossings.

The protection of the Croatian border must be the task of the Croatian police and, when necessary, the Croatian Army, MOST stated, emphasizing that Croatia should have the right to independently decide who can enter its territory.

The party believes that the mass legal and illegal arrivals of migrants from countries outside Europe lead to a "population replacement" and warns that such a policy, for the survival of European nations, their culture, and values, must be stopped through more decisive border protection and the deterrence of illegal migration.
