All Croatians on hit tanker in Egypt are well

Ten Croatian citizens, crew members of the tanker hit by a drone in Egypt on Wednesday, are doing well and there are no injuries, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs (MVEP) announced on Friday.

The unmanned aerial vehicle hit a specialized gas storage tanker in the Egyptian Mediterranean port of Damietta, causing a fire that spread to a nearby vessel, British maritime security firm Ambrey reported.

The crew was evacuated, the fire was brought under control, and no one has claimed responsibility for the attack so far, Reuters reported.

"The competent Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Cairo contacted one of the Croatian crew members, who confirmed that all crew members are alive, doing well, and that there are no injuries," the MVEP statement said.

According to information from the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, there are ten Croatian citizens on board.

The drone hit the Energos Winter, a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) for liquefied natural gas, causing a fire that then spread to another ship, the Gaslog Salem.

The vessel is owned by the American company Energos Infrastructure, while the technical, safety, and commercial management of the ship is operated by the American company Wilhelmsen Ship Management.

The attack occurred on the same day that the United States and Saudi Arabia carried out joint attacks on pro-Iranian paramilitary groups in Iraq, marking the first time they have publicly acted together against Iranian allies.
