On Tuesday during his visit to the Croatian Museum of Natural History on Tuesday the Croatian President called on the Prime Minister to come to an agreement with regards to the issue of appointing new Croatian ambassadors.

Foreign and European Affairs Minister Gordan Grlić Radman today commented on the issue of the appointing of a new corps of Croatian ambassadors, and President Zoran Milanović's warning yesterday, that any attempt to dig through his candidates would be met in kind: "What we saw did not shock me, but the mention of Caterpillar backhoes to dig through candidates that he does not consider to be his is unbelievable. However, through his approach he is publicly demeaning our profession. When I heard the phrase reduce them to dust, the blood in my veins ran cold. If we truly want to achieve a rational agreement then it is time to stop with this kind of messaging."

On Tuesday President Milanović said that he had limited himself to appointing only one quarter of the candidates, while the remaining three quarters would be left to the Prime Minister to choose. He also strongly warned against either side "digging-in" to the other’s candidates, saying that this would ultimately destroy the candidates.
