Croatian officials offered their condolences to Spain’s leadership and the Spanish people after a high-speed train collision killed at least 39 people and injured more than 150 others on Sunday.

"I am deeply saddened by the tragic train accident in Spain. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all those affected. I express my sincere condolences and solidarity with the Spanish people and government during this difficult time,” wrote Prime Minister Andrej Plenković on X.

A train bound for Madrid derailed near Adamuz, crossing onto an adjacent track and colliding with an oncoming train. Both trains were traveling at around 200 kilometers per hour. About 400 people were on board, most of them Spanish nationals. Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has declared three days of mourning and vowed to determine the cause of the crash.

"Today is a day of sorrow for all of Spain, for our entire country, and our thoughts are with the victims and their families, to whom we wish to send our remembrance, our thoughts, and our solidarity,” said Sanchez.
