A government delegation visited Split on Saturday for the signing of several development contracts worth a total of 376 million euros.
The projects include major transport infrastructure, notably the Solin–Omiš expressway, as well as the city’s new water purification system at the source of the Jadro River in Solin.
Zoran Đuroković, General Manager of Hrvatske Vode, said the water project will connect 98 percent of the population to the sewage system and provide 99 percent with access to clean running water. “What was once only a dream has today become a reality,” he added.
Split Mayor Tomislav Šuta praised the long-term effort behind the project. “It wasn’t easy, but thanks to cooperation with the national water management company and the Croatian government, this project—50 years in the making—is finally becoming a reality,” he said.
Prime Minister Andrej Plenković highlighted the importance of such initiatives. “Implementing projects like this water-filtering system is exactly what the government and state institutions should be doing. It ensures clean and safe drinking water for citizens and visitors alike,” he stated.
