Croatia's men’s water polo team qualified on Friday for the semifinals of the European Championship after defeating Greece 13-8 (3-3, 2-3, 4-0, 4-2) in the quarterfinals in front of a crowd of 2,000 spectators in Zagreb.
The clash between the reigning European champions and the Olympic and world runners-up was balanced only in the first half, which the Greeks won 6-5. The second half was completely dominated by the Barracudas, sinking any Greek hopes for their first European medal.
Croatia won the second half 8-2, managing an incredible 8-0 run.
This means that Croatia has reached, at a minimum, the semifinals at a fourth consecutive European Championship.
In the semifinals on Sunday, Croatia will face Hungary, which beat Serbia 15-14 in the first quarter-final match.
