Four Croatia Airlines planes are on their way to pick up our citizens in the Middle East

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs has announced that four Croatia Airlines planes are taking off to pick up our citizens from war-torn areas. They have also announced the same for the next few days, with possible additional options. It all depends on the situation and obtaining landing permits.

Minister Gordan Grlić Radman and his colleague from the United Arab Emirates have also arranged for two local airline planes to transport Croatian citizens from Dubai.

Croats in the Middle East

So far, Croatian citizens have been evacuated from Israel, Jordan and Bahrain. From Oman, where there were 23 Croatian citizens, 12 were evacuated via a flight via Istanbul to Zagreb. The remaining 11 have the option of going to Dubai.

There are currently around 2,000 resident citizens in the United Arab Emirates, of whom 300 want to be repatriated, and there are 460 tourists who also want to return to their homeland.

There are 124 Croatian citizens in Qatar, and air traffic in that country has been completely suspended. Pilgrims from Israel arrived in Zagreb by flight from Egypt.

The Strait of Hormuz is closed, and there are more than three thousand ships in the area from Hormuz to the Gulf of Oman. There are 225 Croatian sailors on 105 ships in the war-torn area.
