The Management Board of the Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency (Hanfa) has granted the Zagreb-based company Electrocoin a license to operate as a Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP), in accordance with the European Regulation on Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA Regulation) and its implementing law, the regulatory agency reported.

Electrocoin will be able to provide services of exchanging crypto assets for cash, exchanging crypto assets for other crypto assets, and providing custody of crypto assets and managing them on behalf of clients.

This is the first company to receive the so-called Hanfa crypto license, and it will also be the first company registered in Hanfa's Register of Companies Authorized to Provide Crypto Asset Services (MiCA) and becomes a subject of Hanfa's supervision in all operations related to crypto assets, they said in a statement.

Until obtaining the crypto license, Electrocoin operated in Croatia as a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP), in accordance with the Act on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism.

Such companies, in accordance with the Act on the Implementation of the Regulation on Crypto-Asset Markets, are required to obtain a crypto license from Hanfa no later than July 1, 2026, if they wish to continue providing their services after that date, Hanfa added.
