According to the latest Eurofound survey, 45% of Croatian citizens have difficulty meeting basic living expenses, which places Croatia among the European Union countries with the worst financial situation of the population.
Only the Greeks are in a worse position, with 55% of respondents stating that they are barely making ends meet.
Among the countries where a large part of the population feels strong financial pressure are Latvia and Estonia (41% each), Hungary and Cyprus (40%), while the European Union average is 32%.
On the other hand, the residents of Luxembourg live in the best conditions, where only 17% of citizens report financial difficulties, while Germany, the Netherlands and Austria are also among the countries with a lower share of those struggling to cover basic expenses.

The data comes at a time when Croatia is intensely discussing the rising cost of living, inflation and problems with citizens' purchasing power, and experts warn that serious measures are needed to improve the financial security of a large part of the population.
