MOST says it will call for a vote of no-confidence

The public outcry over the illegal landfill in Gospić that a recent expert report has confirmed contains hazardous waste continues. The opposition MOST Party has reiterated that it will push for a vote of no-confidence in the HDZ-led coalition government.

Speaking at a press conference in Zagreb today MOST MP Zvonimir Troskot made it clear what his party’s intention is: "We are requesting that President Zoran Milanović or Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković convene an urgent extraordinary session of Parliament, as they are the only ones who have the constitutional authority to do so. We will be demanding a vote of no-confidence in the Government for this act of bio-terror that was organized and allowed."

Troskot also addressed Prime Minister Andrej Plenković’s claim yesterday that the opposition was spreading hysteria and panic: "While you play with you poisonous PR and timely words such as hysteria and panic, the number of carcinogenic diseases in Gospić, and these are fact reported on by the main-stream media."

Residents of the Otočac area north of Gospić are also concerned about the illegal landfill and the pending results of groundwater analysis. Speaking at a press conference today five Otočac city councilors warned the karst terrain is susceptible to the easy spread of pollution that could spill into the Gacka River valley.
