Future members of the Naval Airborne Infantry Company are undergoing integration training at several military locations – at the "116th Brigade of the Croatian Army" barracks in Ploče, at the "Josip Markić" military training ground in Knin, at the "Knez Trpimir" barracks in Divulje and at the "Privala" military location on the island of Korčula.

Airborne assault training is part of the integration training for future members of the Naval Airborne Infantry Company.

The training program includes training in the handling of personal weapons, conducting instinctive and situational shooting, attacks, raids and ambushes, airborne and naval assault, then communication in accordance with prescribed NATO procedures, advanced knowledge of topography and basic first aid.

The goal of this training is to enable participants to acquire knowledge and skills and master all the skills necessary to perform the tasks of members of the Marine Landing Infantry.

The highlight of the training is the final exercise, where members of the Company will demonstrate acquired knowledge, skills and abilities.

“It is a great honor and pleasure for me to be part of the process of introducing new Marines to the Marine Landing Infantry Company. I am extremely satisfied with the serious approach and high level of motivation that the participants of the integration training - future Croatian Marines - have shown in recent days,” said the trainer of the integration training participants, Sergeant Josip Grbavac.

Speaking about the training, Sergeant Grbavac pointed out that the training is nearing its end.

“The participants are eagerly awaiting next week and the final exercise, where they will have the opportunity to show what they have learned. I sincerely expect that everything will go smoothly and that all participants on the last day of training will receive berets from veterans – members of the wartime 53rd Marine Assault Battalion and become members of the Marine Assault Company,” he said.

Marine Assault Company

The Marine Assault Company is a unit within the Croatian Navy Fleet established in 2018. It is the successor to the wartime 53rd Marine Assault Battalion, a unit that actively participated in the defense of the Croatian coast and islands during the Homeland War and contributed to the overall surveillance of the Adriatic in the early stages of the war, when the threat from the sea was real.

The Company's mission is to achieve full operational capability for limited amphibious operations, interception of suspicious ships at sea, force protection, protection of key infrastructure, search and rescue, and support to civilian institutions in the national environment, independently and in joint operations with other forces of the Croatian Navy, Croatian Army, Croatian Air Force, Intelligence Regiment and Special Forces Command, and in the international environment.

The unit is located in the "116th Brigade HV" barracks in Ploče, in a strategically important part of the southern Adriatic, which allows it to operate quickly at sea, on the coast and on the islands.
