The Walk for Life civil initiative announced on Sunday that this year's Walk for Life, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary, will be held in 19 cities, under the motto "The first step is the law," with the first ever walks in the city of Zaprešić, on May 23rd, and in Pula, on September 26th.
Representatives of the Walk for Life initiative held a press conference on Sunday on the occasion of International Women's Day, at which they noted that without the most fundamental of rights, the right to life, any discourse on women's rights is incomplete and contradictory. The coordinator for the Walk for Life in Sisak, Terezija Tržić: "It is time for public conversation and for laws based on science and humanity, and not on personal comfort. Abortion hurts women and kills their child. The foundational human right is the right to life, it is the precondition for all other human and women's rights. The paradox is that today feminists are the ones who most fervently advocate for women to murder their unborn daughters. What an inversion of the truth and values."
For her part the coordinator for the Walk for Life in Osijek, Lidija Blagojević, called out the practice of surrogacy: "I think it's very important today to speak out about the horrible practice of surrogacy, which trades children like commodities and uses mothers as birthing machines. Rich women and rich couples, take advantage of and exploit poor women. Children are stripped away from the women who gave birth to them, their mothers, and have no right to know anything about their origins. Surrogacy is human trafficking and should be banned worldwide."
