Croatia continues to record an increase in the number of newly infected with the coronavirus and on a weekly basis growth is at 32%. Today's share of positives among those tested was at 29.2%.

What is important is the continuation of the vaccination process; in the coming weeks, vaccines should not be lacking, especially the Pfizer vaccine.

“This means that from the fourth week in April until the end of June, we will receive a total of 1,805,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine, which together with the first three weeks in April, makes for almost 2,000,000,” said Krunoslav Capak.

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković called for the best possible organization of vaccinations.

“Now there is a big task and responsibility, especially for county institutes of public health and primary healthcare, for quality and good organization of vaccination. It is our goal that more than 55% of the adult population have been at least vaccinated with the first dose, by July 1st,” said Plenković.

The director of the Dr. Fran Mihaljević Clinic for Infectious Diseases, Alemka Markotić, stated that the British strain of the coronavirus is dominant in the European Union, in places up to 100%, so no sequencing needs to be done.

“What has caused concern for us these days is that for example at today's morning meeting, radiologists showed an entire series of scans of people from 25 years of age to 45, who have harsh pneumonia. It is now important to adhere to measures so that people don't get sick. Younger people must be aware that they can develop harsh forms of the disease,” said Markotić.

Many patients are in the hospital, 2,003 in total, of which 186 are on respirators.

“Our hospital system is additionally burdened at this time and unfortunately I must note that individual hospitals, in agreement with the Ministry, are decreasing their cold programs to adjust to the new circumstances and to engage additional personnel and material capabilities for the needs of Covid positive patients,” said Minister of Health Vili Beroš.

As far as epidemiological measures are concerned, Interior Minister Davor Božinović said they have been extended.

“This is at the national level, in which there are no changes in relation to all those measures that were in force until May 15th. Furthermore, we extended measures in Split-Dalmatia County, the City of Zagreb, Šibenik-Knin County and in Zadar County,” said Božinović.
