There were 151 cruises by foreign ships on the Croatian Adriatic in the first five months of this year, which is five percent more than in the same period last year, while the number of passengers was 0.2 percent less, or 207.5 thousand, according to data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (CBS).

A total of 45 foreign cruise ships entered Croatian seaports in the first five months of this year, which is 12.5 percent more than in the same period last year, and the number of days they stayed in Croatia increased by about 20 days, or 7.6 percent, to 356 days.


Foreign ships on cruises on the Croatian Adriatic sailed in the first five months under the flags of a total of 11 countries, of which the most, or 42, were made by ships under the flag of Malta.


They are followed by the flags of Panama, the Bahamas and Norway, Italy and Bermuda.


In May alone, the number of cruises by foreign ships on the Adriatic was 6.4 percent higher than in the same month last year, and they brought 132 thousand passengers to Croatia, or six percent more.


Typically, the highest number of foreign cruise trips was made in Dubrovnik-Neretva County, followed by Split-Dalmatia County.
