The European Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating possible irregularities in the public procurement process in the city administration and the municipal company of the city of Mali Lošinj.

It is suspected that two individuals favored the company Tehnix in the selection process for the contractor for the construction of a waste sorting facility. The same company was involved in the construction of a sorting facility in Rijeka, in which irregularities were proven, which also drew attention to the case in Mali Lošinj.

Mayor of Mali Lošinj, Ana Kučić, released a message saying she had yet to be officially informed about the investigation.

"In light of the media reports regarding the actions undertaken by the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO), I would like to point out that I was informed about the allegations this morning through the media. The City of Mali Lošinj has no official knowledge of the proceedings in question, nor have we received any requests from the competent authorities. Given the confidentiality of the investigation and the course of the proceedings themselves, we are not able to provide additional information or comments at this time. As Mayor, I am ready to fully cooperate with all competent institutions in order to ensure transparency and openness, within the framework of my legal authority as the mayor of the City."
