Grlić Radman visits the 2025 EXPO in Osaka

The 2025 EXPO in Osaka opened in April and will run through until October. More than 160 countries and international organizations participating in the EXPO, which is expected to welcome more than 28 million visitors. The theme of the EXPO is "Designing Future Society for Our Lives." It is being hosted on the artificial island of Yumeshima, which holds the Guinness World Record for the largest wooden architectural structure, with a floor plan of more than 61 thousand square meters.

Croatian Foreign and European Affairs Minister Gordan Grlić Radman is in Japan, where he is attending EXPO 2025 in Osaka. On the margins of the World Exhibition, Minister Grlić Radman met with Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Hisayuki Fuji. Speaking to reporters after their meeting he said that Croatia advocates for even closer cooperation between the European Union and Japan: “Croatia sees Japan as a key partner in this Indo-Pacific region. We share the common values of freedom and democracy, and respect for the international order based on law. As a member of the European Union but also as a member of the NATO alliance, Croatia supports even closer cooperation and coordination between the European Union and Japan.”


Minister Grlić Radman went on to say that they had also discussed further strengthening of bilateral relations between Croatia and Japan, with a particular emphasis on the importance of Croatia's representation at EXPO and for the promotion of Croatia in Japan.


Regarding the EXPO Minister Grlić Radman said that the theme of the exhibition also reflects Croatia's priorities of sustainability, innovation, digitalization and green transition. The Croatian pavilion is designed as a multi-sensory space that displays the diversity of Croatia's climate zones, with an innovative thermal system that combines real-time weather conditions from Croatia and Japan. He concluded that the Croatian National Day at the EXPO will be on September 21st, when Prime Minister Andrej Plenković will lead a delegation to Osaka.
