Dubrovnik named the best destination by the Global Traveler survey

For the third year in a row, Dubrovnik has been declared the best destination for group travel as chosen by the readers of the prestigious American magazine Global Traveler. According to the Dubrovnik Tourist Board, the storied town was awarded the Best Leisure Destination for Groups in competition with Costa Rica, Los Cabos in Mexico, Italy and Cartagena in Colombia.

In terms of tourist arrivals in Dubrovnik American tourists lead the way, taking second place in terms of overnight stays. United Airlines' direct flights connecting Dubrovnik and the USA further underline the importance of the American market for Dubrovnik. According to the director of the Tourist Board of the City of Dubrovnik, Miroslav Drašković, this recognition significantly contributes to Dubrovnik's visibility on that market.

Global Traveler awards the Leisure Lifestyle Awards based on a survey of the magazine's readers. The survey contained open-ended questions about the best in different categories of luxury and lifestyle travel, and could be completed in the printed edition of the magazine, as an addendum to subscribers, by direct mail, on the magazine's web page and via e-mail.

The award was accepted on behalf of the Dubrovnik Tourist Board by the Director of the Croatian Tourist Board's Representative Office in the USA, Leila Krešić-Jurić.
