Zdravko Mamić sentenced to 6.5 years in prison

At the County Court in Osijek the former head of the Dinamo Football Club Zdravko Mamić has been found guilty in a first instance ruling and sentenced to six and a half years in prison. Zoran Mamić received a sentence of 4 years and 11 months, Milan Pernar was sentenced to 4 years and 2 months, while Damir Vrbanović was sentenced to 3 years in prison. They were charged with siphoning around 116 million kuna from Dinamo and incurring damages to the state budget of 12.2 million kuna.

None of the accused appeared in court, while Zdravko Mamić is currently in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Osijek County Court has issued a warrant for the arrest of Zdravko Mamić.

The former head and current advisor at the NK Dinamo football club Zdravko Mamić, his brother Zoran, former Dinamo director Damir Vrbanović and tax official Milan Pernar were found guilty under an indictment by the Office for Prevention of Corruption and Organized Crime in a first instance ruling by the Osijek County Court of siphoning 116 million kuna from the club and incurring damages to the state budget of 12.2 million kuna.

According to the ruling, read by the president of the court council Darko Krušlin, Zdravko Mamić was sentenced on all counts in the indictment, Milan Pernar and Zoran Mamić were acquitted of the first count on the indictment, but were found guilty of lowering the Mamić’s tax obligations and accepting bribes, while Zoran was also found guilty of giving bribes. Zdravko and Zoran Mamić were found guilty of the third count in the indictment, splitting money from the transfer of Dejan Lovren, while Zdravko Mamić is also guilty for splitting money from the transfer of Luka Modrić.

After the indictment was read Mamić said that it was forced and false. He said he is convinced of his innocence and threatened all those that “set him up and convicted him” with a “yet to be seen weapon.”
