Croatia’s best skier and the winner of the Small Crystal Globe in the slalom discipline last year, says she can’t wait to start the new FIS Ski World Cup season this weekend.

The women's giant slalom will be held in Sölden, Austria, on Saturday, with the first run starting at 10 am and the second at 1 pm, with a live broadcast on HTV's Second Channel. Here’s how reigning slalom champion Zrinka Ljutić commented on the race: “The new ski season is just around the corner. The first race is tomorrow and I'm really looking forward to it. It's exciting to be back at the start after a long break, and to show what I've been working on all summer.”

Last week, she trained for a few days at Sölden: “I trained for a few days on the piste, which was very useful because it's quite challenging. After a long summer break, that steep slope is a real challenge, but every day it got better and I'm very satisfied.”

Ljutić added that the preparations for the upcoming season went according to plan and that she is looking forward to finally start the season: “The preparations went really well. We did everything we planned. I have been skiing a lot since May, I was in South America for a month, and then more skiing in August and September. I have accumulated a lot of days on the snow and I am looking forward to finally racing, I am tired of training.”
