Lawmakers from the SDP and Možemo! are calling on the Constitutional Court to review the Energy Act and the Real Estate Expropriation Act.
The parties argue the laws allow private investors to seize land from small farmers to build solar power plants. The parties say that's exactly what's happening now in Zabok, where several landowners are refusing to sell property that's been in their families for generations.
"We can call this a green-grab, or green-profiteering...That's exactly what's happening: one individual wants to profit from something that should be in the interest of the entire community,” said Možemo! MP Urša Raukar Gamulin at a press conference on Monday.
SDP leader Siniša Dončić said he hoped the Constitutional Court would rule in the interest of the public.
"This is going to be a test to see if the Constitutional Court is really under the control of the HDZ or if it can make some decisions in the interest of the people and common sense," said Hajdaš Dončić.
