Prime Minister and Parliament Speaker attend Christmas Mass in Zagreb

Monsignor Dražen Kutleša leads the first Christmas mass of his episcopate as Zagreb Archbishop in the Zagreb Cathedral. The historic cathedral has been undergoing renovations since the 2020 earthquake that cause serious structural damage to the building.

After the mass, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković emphasized that Archbishop Dražen Kutleša's sermon strongly reminded of the fundamental values of Christmas and the Christian roots of the Croatian people: "Archbishop Kutleša's sermon delivered truly important and essential messages about the values of Christmas, about the Christian roots of the Croatian people, and about the importance of peace, kindness and solidarity in society. As always, this is a good opportunity to live these Christmas messages in peace with our families and loved ones. I wish everyone all the best, both on this day and after the jubilee anniversary of 1 100 years of the Croatian kingdom, in the hope that we will be engaged together in the years ahead. So that together we can do as much good as possible, with as little division and as much unity and solidarity as possible."

The Speaker of Croatian Parliament Gordan Jandroković wished all citizens a merry Christmas, full of faith, hope and love, as well as a stable, safe and peaceful Croatia. He said that he was particularly impressed by Archbishop Kutleša's sermon, which emphasized the importance of the Christian roots of the Croatian people: "Today as we celebrate the birth of Christ, I believe that these Christian roots are something that is extremely important and that has preserved the Croatian people. All of these Christian values emphasize love, unity, faith, respect for others, mutual appreciation, tolerance, connection, care for one's neighbor and solidarity. Everything that we heard in today's sermon and I can only agree with everything that was said."
