The European Commission Representation in Croatia held a conference titled “Europe and Croatia in the Digital Age”, marking one year since the implementation of the Digital Services Act (DSA).
Zrinka Ujević, head of the European Commission office in Croatia, said the DSA introduces rules aimed at creating a safer digital environment. “The Digital Services Act places citizens first—this is very important. It protects fundamental rights, online safety, and security, and, above all, the protection of minors,” she said.
Domagoj Maričić, assistant director of the Croatian Regulatory Agency for Network Industries, added: “What is prohibited offline should also be prohibited online. In other words, the behavior of all actors on the internet should follow the same rules as in real life.”
However, some critics warn that the act could threaten free speech and online anonymity, raising concerns about its broader implications for internet users.
