The two-day Bled Strategic Forum international conference got underway in Bled, Slovenia, on Monday under the title 'Solidarity for Global Security'.
The leading conference in Central and South-Eastern Europe gathers participants from various fields to exchange views and generate ideas to address present and future challenges.
Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković is on hand at the conference, together with other heads of government such as Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob and Prime Minister Ana Brnabić of Serbia, as well as the High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christian Schmidt, and European Council President Charles Michel, to name a few.
The 18th edition of the conference will focus on solidarity. It will seek to address current global questions of uncertainty and insecurity and also future global challenges.
Additionally, in solidarity with the people affected by the disastrous floods that have devastated large portions of Slovenia, the Bled Strategic Forum is adapting its program and organizing activities for raising funds. In this regard, Prime Minister Golob called for the establishment of a joint mechanisms for responding to climate disasters.
Prime Minister Plenković said earlier today that the forum was yet another opportunity to discuss the war in Ukraine, the overall economic, financial and social situation in Europe, and EU expansion.
High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christian Schmidt said ahead of a panel discussion on Southeast Europe that he was optimistic about the future of the country, and called on all political actors to cooperate.
Justice Minister Ivan Malenica, who is also attending the conference in Slovenia, commented on Croatia's digital transition:
"The National Resilience and Recovery Plan is something that will certainly create further momentum for numerous digitization projects. Today, we heard the experiences of other countries and shared our experiences as well. Digital transformation is a priority for all countries in the region. Therefore, we will develop new projects and prepare for the next phase of digital transformation, which is certainly the use of artificial intelligence," said Malenica.
