At the suggestion of local residents, signs bearing the Croatian name Surdukinj have been installed at all three entrances to the Hungarian village of Szederkény, alongside the existing signs in Hungarian and German.
The proposal was presented at a public forum and subsequently approved by the local government, headed by the mayor. Officials emphasized that the village is home to an active and significant Croatian community.
The existing signs bearing the Hungarian and German names were also renewed. The local government thanked the state road management company Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt. for its positive response and Road Signal Kft. for its cooperation in installing the signs.
Representatives of the Croatian self-government in Surdukinj, led by its president, Gábor Szeremlei, welcomed the new signs. They particularly highlighted that the local government covered the entire cost of their installation.
