New Cycle of HiT Starts with Participants from 12 Countries

The autumn semester of the Croatian Internet Course (HiT-1) has brought together 21 participants from 12 countries that will cover seven instructional units by the beginning of December, guided by experienced lecturers and experts in Croatian as a second/foreign language.

The course features interactive lessons and an individualized learning approach, meaning that the live instructional content is tailored to the specific needs and abilities of each individual student, as announced by the Croatian Heritage Foundation (HMI).

The autumn semester includes participants from Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, France, Croatia, Italy, Paraguay, Poland, the USA, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and Uruguay. Three of these participants (from Bolivia, Paraguay, and Uruguay) are scholarship recipients from the University of Zagreb.

About the HiT-1 Course

The Croatian Internet Course (HiT-1) is the first university-level online course for Croatian as a foreign language in Croatia. It was launched through an initiative by the Croatian Heritage Foundation following long-term cooperation with the University of Zagreb, with technical and computing support provided by the University Computing Centre (Srce).

• 15 years of continuous operation (since the Spring 2011 cycle).

• 443 participants have successfully taken part.

• 60 countries represented across past cohorts.

The organizers have already announced the schedule for next year's semesters:

• Spring Semester: March 1 – May 23, 2027

• Autumn Semester: September 13 – December 5, 2027
