A conference on Croatia's defense industry was held today in Zagreb, highlighting the country's growing role in Europe's focus on modern defense technologies and global security.

Croatia has emerged as a leader in the production of first-person view (FPV) drones, carving out a niche in the international defense market.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Ivan Anušić said Croatia is a leader in several defense sectors, particularly within the Drone Coalition alongside the Netherlands and Latvia.

"Croatia can channel a significant share of its resources into domestic production, benefiting both our industry and the broader economy. Our technological expertise and industrial know-how are highly valued around the world," Anušić said.

Minister of Economy Ante Šušnjar added that Croatian companies have successfully identified niche sectors with significant global impact. "The future lies in further developing these specialized industries, which offer high economic and technological value," he said.

European Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius joined the conference via video link, urging the EU to invest trillions in defense to counter future threats.

"Croatia is showing the way forward in defense innovation, particularly in robotics and drones," Kubilius said. "By supporting joint European procurement and backing Ukraine politically and militarily, Croatia is helping build a stronger European defense industry and creating jobs both in Europe and here in Croatia."
