The largest opposition party in Croatian Parliament, the SDP, held its 10th convention in Zagreb on Saturday under the title "Development Model - for a Strong, Productive and Just Croatia." Along with adopting a new party statute, the SDP's platform for the next parliamentary elections was presented, featuring promises of a shortened work week and the higher taxation of capital.

In his address to the gathered SDP party delegates, party president Siniša Hajdaš Dončić called the Christian faithful in the SDP to oppose so-called ultraconservatives in their parishes: "The right of every human being to equality, the equality of all people in dignity, is one of the values of Christianity. This value is inherited by our culture, civilization, and social democracy. I call on all practicing believers here among us, as well as among our members, supporters, and voters, to become active in their local communities and parishes, and to oppose ultraconservatives who want to distort Christian doctrine and use it for their own political goals."

One of the guest speakers at the convention was Zagreb Mayor and the Coordinator of the left-wing Možemo Party, Tomislav Tomašević, who made it clear that he would like to run together at the next parliamentary elections: "We will defend all of the values from the Constitution of the Republic of Croatia, such as anti-fascism, courageously and responsibly. And that is why, at the end of this speech, because of everything I have stated so far, I believe that we will run together in the next parliamentary elections to remove the HDZ from power."
