In Zagreb on New Year's Eve, in a joint action by Croatian and Italian police, 72 year old Claudio D'Este, a former member of the notorious Mala del Brenta gang was arrested. For the past 10 years he lived with his wife and daughter in the Kajzerica neighborhood under an alias.
He is expected to serve a prison sentence of 10 years, three months and 16 days for smuggling narcotics. Thanks to him great quantities of cocaine and heroin appeared in the Italian region of Veneto.
