Back home, football is once again proving its power to unite. Politicians from across the political spectrum are setting aside their differences as they prepare to cheer on the Vatreni.
"I just want us to win. I think Musa could score in his hometown," predicted Deputy Prime Minister and Construction Minister Branko Bačić.
Foreign and European Affairs Minister Gordan Grlić Radman is also feeling confident.
"Three-nil for Croatia. I've always been an optimist," he said.
Agriculture Minister David Vlajčić said the performance matters more than the result.
"I expect our team to play really well and leave their hearts out there on the pitch. The result is not as important."
Demography and Immigration Minister Ivan Šipić is keeping it simple.
"I just don't want us to lose. That's the most important thing. But we all believe we're going to win."
SDP MP Arsen Bauk is avoiding predictions.
"I don't want to try to predict the future. England is a strong team, but history tells us we're pretty good too. In fact, I believe we've had more success at the World Cup over the past two decades than England."
Most MP Zvonimir Troskot is hoping for a narrow Croatian victory.
"I sincerely hope for a win. It won't be by much because England is playing really well. I think Gvardiol could score."
And Homeland Movement MP Ivica Kukavica says Croatia performs best when expectations are low.
"As a former player, I'm always optimistic. I believe in our team. We're often underestimated, and when we're underestimated the most, that's when we're at our best."
