New strategic projects for Croats outside the Republic of Croatia

A total of 5.9 million euros will be allocated by Croatia to continue supporting projects of strategic importance for Croats outside the Republic of Croatia, the Government decided this week. Four more projects have been included in the category of strategically important for Croats outside the Republic of Croatia.

Of the 11 projects that the Government has continued to financially support, four relate to Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina, three to Serbia, and one each in Montenegro, Hungary, Burgenland Croats, and the diaspora from South America.


265,000 euros will be allocated to continue supporting the Croatian National Theatre in Mostar in order to preserve and nurture Croatian national and cultural identity, affirm and promote the Croatian language, theatre culture, and Croatian cultural unity.


600,000 euros will be allocated to Radio Television Herceg-Bosna, the only public radio and television service in the Croatian language in BiH, and the renovation of the Church of St. Cyril and Methodius in Sarajevo, 950,000 euros, and for infrastructure projects of the Mostar-Duvno and Trebinje-Mrkan dioceses, 850,000 euros. This is a total of 2.7 million euros.


2.9 million euros will be allocated for the continuation of projects for Croats in the Republic of Serbia - 200,000 for the institutional strengthening of the Croatian community, 1.2 million euros for the Domus Dimitrianum project of the Srijem diocese, and 1.5 million euros for the agricultural development program of the Croatian community.


100,000 euros are being provided for the Croatian Theatre in Pécs, Hungary, and an additional 75,000 euros will be allocated to support Radio Dux in Montenegro, the only electronic media outlet of the Croatian national minority. Support for Hrvatske novine from Željezno in Austria is also continuing with 75,000 euros, as well as meetings of the Croatian diaspora with 68,000 euros. The Ninth Meeting of Croats of South America will be held from 5 to 8 November this year in Córdoba, Argentina.


Four new strategic projects: Jajce, Vienna, Gothenburg and Chicago


At the proposal of the Commission for the Evaluation and Determination of Project Proposals of Strategic Importance for Croats Outside the Republic of Croatia, the Government declared four more such projects at its session, for which 851,000 euros will be allocated.


The projects declared of strategic importance are the renovation of the Franciscan Monastery in Jajce, which is supported with 300,000 euros, the institutional strengthening of the Croatian Center in Vienna, for which 200,000 euros will be allocated, the infrastructural renovation of the Croatian Home in Gothenburg, Sweden, for which 101,000 euros have been allocated, and the projects of the Croatian Ethnic Institute in Chicago, USA, which will be supported with 250,000 euros.
