Festive atmosphere in Livno: Celebration of City Day and the first written mention of the Livno region

On the central city square in Livno, King Tomislav Square, the fifth consecutive exhibition of food and agricultural products, crafts, traditional trades, and tourism, Agro-tour 2026, has officially opened.

The opening of the fair marked the beginning of the celebration of Livno City Day and the 1134th anniversary of the first written mention of the Livno region. Organized by the City of Livno through its Department of Economy, Inspection, Local Development, and Investment, the fair gathered eighteen exhibitors.

At the set-up stands, exhibitors presented a rich and diverse offer of homemade food and agricultural products, handicrafts, and promotional materials to the visitors. Attendees had the opportunity to look around, taste, and purchase recognizable Livno brands such as local cheese, honey, jam, liqueurs, brandies, cured meat products, natural juices, fruits, vegetables, and other authentic delicacies.

The fair was officially opened with an appropriate speech by the Mayor of Livno, Darko Čondrić. He emphasized the importance of preserving tradition and supporting local producers.

“Livno truly has a lot to show. This fair confirms that we have hardworking people, quality domestic products, and tradition. Furthermore, through our Tourist Board and Tourist Office, we are presenting the rich tourism offerings of the city of Livno,” said Čondrić.

A novelty at this year's fair was the preparation of traditional pies right on the spot. Specifically, Slavko Popović, the head of the "Miris zavičaja" (Scent of the Homeland) family farm, joined forces with the youngest attendees of the "Pčelice" (Little Bees) Kindergarten and their teachers. Together with their small, hardworking hands, they made burek. The children skillfully rolled out the phyllo dough (jufke) and filled it with meat, and in the end, visitors got to taste the freshly made delicacy, which was baked in the kitchen of a nearby restaurant. The toddlers showed great interest in rolling out the dough and making burek, while visitors enjoyed the smell and taste of this warm, freshly prepared treat. In this way, the tradition of making authentic dishes is passed down to the youngest generations, and this attraction of children rolling out dough could easily remain a part of the fair in the future.

The opening program of Agro-tour 2026 and the start of the Livno City Day celebration were enhanced by performances from the majorettes of the Paganini Dance Club and members of the Tribanj Cultural and Artistic Society (KUD Tribanj).
