We take you to the islet of Sveti Marin near Novi Vinodolski. This very spot is being chosen as a wedding venue by more and more couples from abroad. Among them is a couple from Poland.
The newlyweds, Mateusz and Julia Natalia Maluha, wanted summer, the sea, and a wedding without too many formalities. After 11 years together, the choice fell on Croatia.
“We wanted a wedding in a summer destination, on the beach, in a relaxed style, and it turned out that Croatia is ideal for that. Yes, no ties, without too much formal clothing, just summery and relaxed. It was hard to choose any other place.”
Sveti Marin is located just 205 meters from the coast. It features a Gothic church built on the foundations of an even older structure.
“We really liked this islet. In fact, it was partly because of it that we chose Croatia, because it has a beautiful chapel, lovely surroundings, and it is very close to the shore. We would definitely recommend it; it truly is gorgeous here,” says Julia Natalia.
The newlyweds' friends, Ola and Piotr, are thrilled with the scenery. Everything is excellent, ideal, with the blue sea in the background—simply beautiful, they say.
“It seems that couples reach the altar here in every way imaginable,” says registrar Sanja Rađenović Pipinić.
“They have ridden in boats, on pedal boats, they have swum, they have arrived on beautiful yachts, so there has been a bit of everything. But it is always beautiful and orderly, making it a pure joy to work in a place like this and do this kind of job.
I hope the newlyweds are happy and satisfied with this project of ours for their wedding, and they will surely always carry the memory of this beautiful day, of their wedding, in their hearts. And look, it really is a wonderful promotion for Novi Vinodolski, as well as for the islet itself,” concludes Ivona Tatalović from the Tourist Board of Novi Vinodolski.
And what they didn't expect was a television camera. Yet another memory they will take back home to Poland, alongside the much more important one: when, after 11 years together, on an islet in the middle of the blue sea, they said "I do" to each other!
