The Croatian National Bank will issue a commemorative two-euro coin dedicated to Vukovar, featuring motifs of the Vukovar Water Tower and the Danube.
The "City of Vukovar" coin will be issued as part of the "Croatian Cities" series, and the CNB announces a record mintage of half a million copies.
As stated by the CNB, the motifs of the Vukovar Water Tower and the Danube River are intended to present Vukovar as a city of special historical, cultural, and symbolic significance for Croatia. The decision to issue the coin was made by the CNB Council at its session on Tuesday.
The CNB Council also made a decision to issue gold and silver numismatic coins "Innovations of Ivan Vučetić," within the "Croatian Innovators" series. They will feature motifs related to Ivan Vučetić, a criminologist and the inventor of dactyloscopy (fingerprinting). The CNB will also issue gold and silver numismatic coins "Croatian Sheepdog," which will be part of the "Indigenous Croatia" series.
