The head of the Split-Dalmatia Police Department, Marko Srdarevic, said on Friday, ahead of the Marko Perković Thompson concert to be held on August 4 at the Sinj hippodrome, that the biggest challenge for the police will be traffic, given that 48,000 vehicles have been announced to arrive in the Sinj area.

At a press conference, Marko Srdarevic assessed that the concert will be "a challenging public gathering in every sense", primarily because 150,000 people are expected to attend.

“The organizers are announcing that around 48,000 vehicles will arrive in Sinj, with 25,000 already registered vehicles in the city. This shows that there will be crowds in Sinj all day long. We also expect traffic jams at certain times,” said Srdarevic.

On the day of the concert, it was decided that Miljenka Buljana Street, Put Piketa and Put Šumarije will be closed from 8 am, until 12 pm and only residents will be allowed to pass, and after noon only emergency services will be able to pass there. These streets are particularly important for arriving on foot to the concert.

Srdarević asked drivers to use alternative routes, the A1 motorway and county roads towards Muć, Drniš and Knin. He called on concert visitors to avoid traffic on the D1 road because it will be extremely busy, and the police will provide maximum protection due to the passage of emergency services. He asked visitors to use county and local roads from the direction of Trilj, Otok and Obrovac.

The heaviest crowds are expected on the day of the concert from 1 pm to 8 pm and from 11 pm to 3 am. Ambulance, Red Cross, civil protection and police teams will be at ten locations. In addition to the mobile teams of emergency services, there will be a station for the provision of emergency aid at the hippodrome, and there will also be a station at the Health Center in Sinj.

“The temporary police station will be at the Junak Football Club stadium, right next to the hippodrome. About 1,500 security guards and another 1,020 police officers will work to secure the event,” Srdarević announced.

The city of Sinj provided parking, drinking water...

The city of Sinj has provided parking in the parking lot of the former Stoční pazar, in the area of the Franciscan Classical Gymnasium and the Kukuzovac Economic Zone.

“We secured an area for buses in the area of the former Dalmatinka factory, and it will be possible to park 6,000 vehicles at the airport. For those who leave their vehicles at Kukuzovac, from 3 p.m. to three past midnight, buses are provided that will take visitors from Kukuzovac to the roundabout near the Tendi restaurant. The buses will be free,” revealed Sinj mayor Miro Bulj.

“The City of Sinj will provide drinking water at 16 locations in the wider area of the hippodrome and in the city center,” Bulj reported, calling on visitors to maintain peace and dignity, and to look after each other.

Concert organizer Mirko Gudelj said that there will be 84 health workers in 15 emergency medical teams, 45 firefighters with 12 vehicles, and 64 employees of the Civil Protection Directorate on the ground, who will arrive from Zagreb and Osijek in addition to Split.

Entrances open at 4 p.m., and visitors can download a mobile application that will make it easier to find their way and get all the information for getting to the entrance and navigating inside the hippodrome. The concert will last two hours and 45 minutes.
