The coach of the Croatian national football team, Zlatko Dalić, attended the draw for groups in the World Cup in Doha and commented on Croatia’s group, in which Belgium, Morocco and Canada await us.

“I'm mostly satisfied, you can't expect an easy group, it’s the World Cup. We got Belgium, which was at the top of FIFA rankings for three years, Canada defeated the USA and Mexico, they are a team full of young talent that is progressing a lot, and we have Morocco, which is among the best in Africa, led by the great expert Vahid Halilhodžić, which we all know well, it will be difficult, but we are ready and we will go for victory in every game,” said coach Zaltko Dalić.

“We are playing the first game with Morocco and that is optimal. We are ready and we know what our goal is, and the first goal is to pass the group. We must not underestimate anyone, step by step and achieve our goal, I believe in us, I believe we will pass the group and move on,” he added.

“I didn't want France, we really played a lot with them, I wanted to avoid them,” admitted Dalić.

He also commented on preparatory matches held in Qatar.

“We spent 7-8 days with the national team, played two good games, and our goal was to get acquainted with the conditions and the field here, it will come in handy later, now we have the League of Nations and preparations for the World Cup.

How does he assess success after trying out a new system?

“We said we would try 3-5-2, but we have our basic, primary setup. We will certainly try it in the League of Nations, but it is important that all players are healthy for the World Cup. It is good that the tournament is in November, everyone will be healthy and ready,” noted coach Dalić.

What does he expect from the World Cup?

“As always, we will be modest, step by step, it is essential to pass the group,” he said.

Vahid Halilhodžić, Morocco's coach was not overly enthusiastic about playing with Croatia, Belgium and Canada.

“It is a very difficult draw with the world runners-up, the Croats, a strong Belgium and the best national team in North America. In any case, it will not be easy for us. In Brazil in 2014 with Algeria I almost achieved a great feat against Germany so I will try to do the same with Morocco. Anything is possible; you have to believe in it. These are really great teams with exceptional players. We will have to prepare well, because this will be a different World Cup than the others. But I think Qatar will organize it well and we are all eager for it to start,” Halilhodžić told AFP.
