The defence ministers of Croatia and Slovakia have signed a letter of intent aimed at strengthening military cooperation, with a particular focus on the joint acquisition of new equipment through the European Union’s €150 billion financial instrument for the rapid enhancement of defence capabilities among member states.
Slovak Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Robert Kaliňák said that Slovak soldiers’ uniforms are already being produced using materials supplied by Croatian companies. He added that the same will apply to combat-protective helmets to be procured by the Slovak Armed Forces.
He also noted that Slovakia can offer Croatia a range of defence products, including ammunition, machinery and armoured vehicles.
Croatian Defence Minister Ivan Anušić said that closer cooperation is essential in the current geopolitical context.
“In times of growing uncertainty and geopolitical challenges, it is essential that we work closely with our friends and partners and continue to strengthen bilateral relations, particularly in the areas of defence and security,” Anušić said.
