Plenković sacks his Health Minister

Kujundžić had been facing mounting pressure to step down over irregularities on his declaration of personal assets.

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković has sacked Health Minister Milan Kujundžić on Tuesday. The news was confirmed by Government spokesman Marko Milić. Kujundžić who had been under growing pressure to resign over alleged irregularities on his declaration of personal assets, maintains that the alleged discrepancies are little more than minor oversights. He also claims however, that these minor discrepancies were blown out of proportion by interest groups trying to remove him from office. He claimed that the issue began only after he decided to acquire four new CT Scanners at a cost of 60 million Kuna instead of having the state continue paying a private institution 50 million every year for those services.

According to media speculation, Kujundžić's Deputy Minister, Vili Beroš, is one of the names being mentioned as his successor. Plenković is expected to discuss the issue with the HDZ leadership and the party's health committee during the day.
