Milanović summoned Plenković to an urgent meeting; Prime Minister: Let him call Vučić

The President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia Zoran Milanović sent a letter today to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenković.

Dear Mr. Prime Minister,

I would like to inform you that, as the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia, I have issued an Order that the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia will not participate in the military parade in Paris on July 14, 2026. The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia, Lieutenant General Tihomir Kundid, is responsible for the implementation of the aforementioned Order.

Considering that the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia is exposed to pressure from the Government of the Republic of Croatia through which he is asked to disobey and not implement the Orders of the President of the Republic and the Supreme Commander of the Croatian Armed Forces, I propose an urgent meeting at which we will discuss these circumstances that directly threaten the command system in the Croatian Armed Forces. The threat to the command system seriously threatens the stability of the entire defense system, which represents a serious problem and requires a clear return of all actors to the framework prescribed by the Constitution and laws, reads a letter from President Zoran Milanović, signed by his spokesperson Nikola Jelić.

Plenković responded to Milanović: Let him call Vučić

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković responded briefly to Zoran Milanović upon his arrival at a session of the Presidency and National Board of the Croatian Democratic Union.

“Let him call Vučić,” said the Prime Minister, referring to the President of Serbia.
