Croatian President and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia Zoran Milanović was in Varaždin on Friday to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the 7th Guards Brigade 'Puma’s'. After the formal ceremony, he made a public statement.

The situation in the Croatian army

“When we see what kind of supplies there are, and I have that information, I can't blame it on the commanders. They sew from the material brought to them, and it is up to the person who keeps the treasury to ensure that the equipment is procured in time - anti-armor, grenades. We are in a bad position there, there is nothing,” said Zoran Milanović about the situation in the Croatian Army.

He pointed out that he had warned Prime Minister Andrej Plenković about the state of the Croatian Army last year, and he hadn't even blinked an eye.

“I wrote to him this year, secretly, he didn't even blink. I have to inform the public about the problems we have and about the unwillingness to approach their solution and deaf ignoring,” he said.

“Plenković is responsible, Banožić is his servant and does not decide on anything,” he added.

When asked what the situation was like when he was prime minister, he said that it was better, but that they worked from what was passed.

“We acquired a lot of things, but this is something that has been going on for six years now,” he said.

In response to a journalist's question about Kotromanović's idea of building an ammunition factory, the president said:

“Kotromanović had the idea to go to Belgrade in 1995, but that was in 1995. He procured anti-tank howitzers, signed a contract for ships, secured funds, announced tenders, 200 American trucks arrived during his term. The man worked without money. He is a magician,” said Milanović.

Borell's letter to Grlić Radman

He also referred to the last statements of Minister Grlić-Radman regarding Josep Borell's letter.

“Borell wrote to him, that is that level. And he asks where the President of the Republic, who appoints ambassadors, got the letter from. That letter is public, written in response to Grlić's letter in his capacity as High Representative. It could not be a more public document. An illiterate moron like Radman can't figure that out. That letter is a shameless insult to Croatia. A lie was signed. It is an insolent peasant rejection of Croatia without any effort to write a coherent legal opinion. Listen bro, I can't, it’s Christmas goodbye, my pig will burn. Literally that tone of writing,” said Milanović, adding that he himself will publish the letter.

The situation surrounding Admiral Robert Hranj

He also referred to the decision of the Supreme Court in the Swiss franc case.

“They decided not to do their job. If it weren't for me and three other people, Croats would still be slaves to the banks, they would be extorting and extorting their children to death. This is how we stepped on their heels, then they sued us and their lawsuit failed. They dropped the lawsuit and in the end everyone is satisfied. And they should be grateful,” he said.

When asked what he will do if on January 1, 2023, Minister Banožić retires Admiral Robert Hranj.

“Hranj has a mandate until March 2024. Everything else is a crime. This bullying, introducing insecurity into the system should be stopped. When Hranj was appointed, this minister (Banožić) was digging and picking pockets at the Ministry of State Property. When they bring him into custody, and that will happen, it must be according to the law, there must be some decision. Same here. Hranj was appointed for four years, he was appointed by the President of the Republic of Croatia at the proposal of the Government, and he can only be dismissed by the President himself or again by the President if proposed and requested by the Government. Ministers are not involved in nominations, appointments or dismissals,” said President Milanović.
