The Church in Split organized an Easter breakfast for the homeless Monday morning at the Split-Makarska Archdiocese's soup kitchen, promoting solidarity and inclusion.
Among those joining the meal were Blaženko Boban and his staff, sharing bread with about 30 homeless individuals supported by the MoSt association, which provides assistance to the city’s most vulnerable.
“We will all come to experience the true meaning of Easter by helping those who are troubled and in need, rather than focusing only on the abundance of our own table,” said Boban.
For many, Easter can be a particularly difficult time. Denis Maslov, director of Caritas, explained, “For the homeless and the poor, this time is especially hard because it is natural to be with family and friends, and they are often alone.”
Željko Sinovčić, one of the men assisted by MoSt, said the gesture meant a great deal. “It means a lot to us because we feel that we’re not completely forgotten and alone,” he said.
