Along with the ongoing infrastructure projects in the Split-Dalmatia County and the City of Split, a number of road, railway and port projects in the area are expected to be launched in the near future. This includes the Ravča-Drvenik expressway, which should be ready for implementation in 2028, and the Zagvozd-Imotski expressway, the first phase of which is at a high level of readiness.
Deputy Prime Minister, Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Oleg Butković visited the construction sites of two major road infrastructure projects in the Split area on Tuesday. The first infrastructure project is the construction of the first three kilometers of the future Split - Omiš expressway. The second is the Kozjak tunnel, which will serve as the new entrance into the city.
According to Minister Butković the Chinese contractor has already bored through eighty percent of the two and a half kilometer long tunnel: "Works are proceeding very well. There are still a few hundred meters left to drill through, but we expect to break through in April. And with the construction of the road that will connect to the state road, this project will be brought to an end. I believe European funding will be approved shortly, and that will make it easier for us to handle the total cost of slightly more than one hundred million euros."
Along with works on three ports in the area, Minister Butković also mentioned the large project of connecting the railway with the airport.
