In the "Stranci u Hrvatskoj" section of the Dobro jutro, Hrvatska show, we hosted Carol Anne Škovarga. She was born and raised in Canada in a Croatian family, and three years ago she decided to move to Croatia with her husband and children. They built a house near Jastrebarsko and created their new home.

Drawing on her own experience, she now works as a consultant for a company that provides immigrants to Croatia with information on obtaining residency, citizenship, and all other useful advice.

Carol Anne's grandparents emigrated to Canada, and it was there that her mother met her father: "My mom was born here in Croatia, but my mom and dad met in Canada. I grew up in a place near Toronto in Ontario, and there are many, many Croatians there. We call that part the Greater Toronto Area, and there were folklore groups and Croatian churches there. That’s how they met," says Carol Anne.

"It was very nice growing up as a Croatian outside of Croatia, especially where there were a lot of us. Mass every Sunday, socializing, the Croatian park, folklore groups, it was all connected to the church. We played the tamburitza and we had banquets. We always hung out, danced and spoke Croatian. We had all of those beautiful things in our lives in Canada too," she added.
