The condition of three patients who suffered severe burns in last week’s wildfire near Omiš remains stable compared with previous days, but they are still in life-threatening condition, KBC Sestre milosrdnice said on Thursday.
The patients were transferred from KBC Split to the Traumatology Clinic at KBC Sestre milosrdnice in Zagreb. They are being treated in the intensive care unit, where they remain intubated and on mechanical ventilation and are receiving treatment to stabilize their vital functions.
“Given the extent of their burns, the course of the disease is currently progressing as expected,” the hospital said.
All three patients have undergone surgical procedures to remove dead and burned tissue, according to the Office of the Director of KBC Sestre milosrdnice.
Meanwhile, a 17-year-old girl who was also injured in the fire remains in serious but stable condition at Zagreb Children’s Hospital.
One person was tragically found dead at the scene.
The initial estimate of the financial damage caused by last week’s devastating wildfire in Omiš and the surrounding area stands at €110 million.
“Our first priority is to approve an initial allocation of €20 million from the state budget to support the cleanup following the devastating wildfire. In addition, all relevant ministries will provide urgent assistance for the recovery effort and support for those affected by the disaster,” Prime Minister Andrej Plenković said on Thursday.
