National airline Croatia Airlines welcomed its third new Airbus A220-300 aircraft, with a capacity of 149 seats, at Zagreb's Franjo Tuđman Airport, continuing the project to renew its entire fleet.

The new Airbus is named Vukovar

The new Airbus A220-300 aircraft of Croatia Airlines has the registration number 9A-CAL. It was named Vukovar, and arrived directly from the Airbus factory in Mirabel, Canada. According to a press release from Croatia Airlines, this is the first of a total of three new Airbus A220-300 aircraft that the leasing company Azorra will deliver to our company based on an order from Airbus.

Croatia Airlines CEO Jasmin Bajić emphasized on this occasion that the arrival of each new aircraft, and this year they expect five, allows them to expand their destination network and optimize their flight schedule.

“We are pleased to offer passengers five new international routes this season, thus providing an additional contribution to the development of Croatian tourism and the economy as a whole. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our partners from Azorra, which is the lessor of the Vukovar aircraft, and the manufacturer Airbus, for their quality cooperation, and I believe that we share a common pleasure with today's event,” emphasized Bajić.

Croatia Airlines expects five new A220s this year

The Airbus A220 aircraft are of the new generation. They have been designed as a completely new product that offers the best performance in terms of efficiency and noise emissions, and a first-class experience for crews and passengers thanks to innovative design and latest-generation technology.

Designed for the 100-160-seat passenger aircraft market segment, the A220 aircraft has a maximum range of 3,600 nm (6,700 km), the statement said.

Croatia Airlines expects delivery of five new A220 aircraft in 2025, and the fleet renewal project should be completed in 2027, when the Croatian national carrier's fleet should have a total of 15 new A220 aircraft, of which 13 will be A220-300s (capacity 149 seats) and two A220-100s (capacity 127 seats).
