Despite earning monthly salaries of around 4,000 euros, members of parliament claimed nearly 1.3 million euros from the state budget last year to cover work-related expenses.

According to data published by the Croatian Parliament, the largest share of costs went toward rent, totaling around half a million euros. MPs whose permanent residence is more than 50 kilometers from Zagreb are entitled to receive up to 650 euros per month for accommodation in the capital.

The state also covered utility costs of up to 70 euros per month per MP, amounting to just over 30,000 euros in 2025.

As in previous years, personal vehicle expenses were the second-largest category, totaling more than 317,000 euros. Public transport, meanwhile, remained unpopular - only 20 MPs used it, at a cost of just over 5,000 euros.

Hotel stays accounted for more than 100,000 euros, airfare cost 144,000 euros, while daily allowances totaled around 42,000 euros.

Among individual MPs, SDP lawmaker Tanja Sokolić claimed just 20 euros in expenses. The biggest spenders were HDZ's Andro Krstulović Opara, with nearly 31,000 euros, and the SDP's Ivan Račan, who claimed just under 27,000 euros.
