IFC investing a further billion USD in Croatia

The International Finance Corporation - a member of the World Bank Group - plans to invest up to one billion USD in Croatia over the next five years to support the country's development priorities.

The news was, which was highlighted at a conference organized by the Croatian Employers' Association, the IFC and the Ministry of Finance, is also said to be an opportunity for domestic companies to grow and develop.


State Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, Stipe Župan, said successful cooperation with the International Finance Corporation had resulted in investments totaling more than 1.8 billion euros.


"In Croatia, the IFC finances projects in infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, the food industry, renewable sources of energy, small and medium-sized businesses, finance, and so on," said Župan.


The head of the Croatian Employers Association, Irena Weber, stated that the mission of the IFC strongly coincides with that of the Employers Association; which is to stimulate investments, increase productivity, create new jobs and build a competitive and sustainable economy.
