Flag carrier Croatia Airlines said on Tuesday it welcomed their seventh new Airbus A220 plane, as part of its plan to replace its entire fleet with a single, more efficient jet-powered aircraft type.

The aircraft arrived from the Airbus factory in Canada's Mirabel and has 127 seats, the maximum number for A220, the company said in a press release.

"Our first A220-100, which will carry the name of the Croatian tourist pearl Dubrovnik, will further strengthen our flight network, provide passengers and crews with a first-class flying experience, and at the same time contribute to a more sustainable business for our company," Croatia Airlines CEO Jasmin Bajić said.

The fleet renewal project is expected to be completed in 2027, by which time Croatia Airlines should have 15 new A220s - 13 A220-300s and two A220-100s. The company is carrying out the project in partnership with the manufacturer and the lessor, U.S.-based Air Lease Corporation.
