A ceremonial academy was held to mark the Croatian Army’s 35th birthday

Ahead of Armed Forces Day on Thursday, a ceremonial academy was held in Karlovac on Wednesday. Armed Forces Day celebrates the first ceremonial review of the National Guard Corps on May 28th, 1991.

The celebration of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the Croatian Army began with the laying of wreaths and lighting of candles. Speaking at the academy Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Ivan Anušić said that the historic modernization of the Croatian Army is underway and that by 2030 Croatia will be one of the smaller, but most modern armies in Europe and the world: "Everything we have contracted or will contract and everything that we plan to do by 2030 will be completed in the sense that we will have a fully equipped, modern, young and smaller armed forces, with complete reserves."


"The armed forces are currently in a phase of an exponential modernization and equipping. This applies to the development of capabilities and all the tasks that the armed forces will face in the future," added the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, General Tihomir Kundid.
